Department of Biotechnology (DBT)-Clinical Research Training Centre (CRTC)

DBT sponsored training program will be initiated in august 2008

DBT-sponsored Biotechnology Training

To provide practical training for recent M.Sc Biotechnology students, SLS is currently training students who are sponsored by DBT. SLS also offers industry-oriented practical training programs that benefit biology and pharmacy students.

Project Works

To help some of the biotechnology and pharmacy students we provide facilities to complete their project works at our research centre.

SLS-training programs

Periodically we offer Cancer biology and drug discovery and clinical research programs as these programs are likely to help the trainees to  acquire basic practical skills to secure employment opportunities in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Group/ Instutional training - M.Sc.

We provide batch/ group training  in Cancer biology and  drug discovery every year. Such programs will be supported by funds from the institution which intends to  train the entire class/ batch of M.Sc. students.

We offer some of the industry-oriented broad training modules in cancer biology, drug discovery and clinical research. The short-term training programs are designed for post-graduates with an objective to help students in adapting to the needs of the pharmaceutical industry and enhance their career prospects.

The trainees receive hands-on laboratory experience through a required course and develop practical skills. The research projects emphasize applied research which relates to the bench work in addition to data collection, analysis and presentation. The faculty representation in this program is multidisciplinary. The faculty members' areas of expertise include: cancer biology, cell biology, molecular biology, clinical biochemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, statistics and clinical trials.

For the past two years several Pharmacy and biology students worked with our scientists and successfully completed their short-term research projects. We have also trained more than 100 biology students in cancer biology, cell culture and drug discovery techniques.
